Actress Kate Hudson has great hair and great connections to stylists who keep it that way.

But she's also an eco-friendly kind of gal whose main concern these days is protecting endangered wild life.

So she's partnered with celebrity stylist David Babaii to launch a line of eco-conscious hair-care products with a portion of the proceeds going to WildAid, a global wildlife conservation organization.

Babaii, who helped formulate the hair-care line, tested the products on Hudson, not animals, so that's a good thing.

What else? The line is void of chemicals such as parabens (a preservative), sulfates, petroleum, petrochemicals and, of course, animal products. The packaging is made from recycled plastic.

Hudson, who is credited as the co-founder and spokeswoman for the line, said in a statement: "Traveling to Africa to shoot the ad campaign (for WildAid) truly changed my life. It made me think about how we should protect ... and cherish our environment and animals."

The initial roll-out of the WildAid products will be July 3 and 4 on HSN. Both Hudson and Babaii will appear on the shows, and Babaii will also impart some of his styling secrets.

The line includes two formulations of shampoo and conditioner plus a variety of styling products, including Bohemian Beach Spray, Hair Polish, Volcanic Ash Sculpting Clay, Fibers Molding Paste and several hair sprays. Prices range from $11.95 to $14.95.

The WildAid line is available online at www.db4wildaid.com, where you can get more info on the products, including styling tools (flat irons and blow dryers) that can be purchased.

Look for the line at retailers such as Target, ULTA, Sally's, Walmart and Walgreens.

Skin sense

Summertime means more of us is exposed – as in our skin. Two issues women deal with most often are hair removal and trying to minimize (emphasis on "minimize") the appearance of cellulite, that pesky dimpling that shows up on thighs, stomach, etc.

We checked out two products that are cost-friendly and good for keeping skin smooth.

eos: Eos stands for "evolution of smooth." It's a super moisturizing shave cream that's designed to be used on either dry or wet skin. That's not something you want to try with more traditional foaming formulas. Eos comes in three fragrances, including pomegranate raspberry, island blue and vanilla bliss and is available at Target.

Nivea: If we're being honest, no cream or gel is going to get rid of cellulite. But Nivea's Good-bye Cellulite Gel Cream, when mixed with a little self- tanner, does make the skin look firmer. So it fulfills the promise of "reducing the appearance of."

Nivea's Good-bye Cellulite Gel Cream is $12.99 at drugstores. Nivea

Eos moisturizing shave cream comes in three fragrances and costs $4.99. eos
