Featured volunteer: Sylvie Bergeron, a member of the KRM board, is described as a parent activist.

What is a parent activist? Bergeron answered: "As the mother of a survivor, I decided that after my son was in remission, I would help raise money for research."

Bergeron has been on the KRM board for a year and a half, participating in many of the group's activities.

"We have different fundraisers, and the board members are involved in them as well as raising awareness about childhood cancer," said Bergeron.

Bassen Mansour was diagnosed with cancer when he was 6 months old. He is now 3. "It has been a trip to hell and back," said Bergeron. She added a recent positive highlight: "We had KRM night at the River Cats baseball game, and Bassen threw out the first pitch."
