No more trips to the Bay Area for local lovers of Anthropologie clothing and home décor store.
If you haven't checked out the Fountains at Roseville shopping center, Anthropologie was one of the first retailers to open in the new complex back in June.
Previously, shoppers had to make their way to either Berkeley or San Francisco or shop online or by catalog.
And nothing beats seeing the apparel and interior merchandise up close and personal.
The stores are a visual, virtual treat.
Roseville manager Alex Anderson says most of the store's employees "are newbies, except for one transfer from the Bay Area."
Anderson says the Roseville store is a different environment from the Bay Area venues.
"And you'll save on gas!" he adds.
A big fan of the line (even though he's male), Anderson says the market for the company continues to grow.
"What I've learned is the Anthropologie customer is self-aware," he says, "which fits nicely with the apparel because it's very unique, very one-of-a-kind, as are the home goods."
Like other retailers, Anthropologie is transitioning from summer to fall by adding lightweight layering pieces.
"We have quite a few sweaters, dresses, the classic pieces that merge one season to the next," Anderson says.
He adds that one interesting observation about the local clientele is that 10 women all different ages might buy the same blouse and walk out wearing it 10 different ways.
It has taken 16 years, since the first Anthropologie opened, to get a local store. Don't wait that long to check it out.
Store info: Anthropologie is at 1182 East Roseville Parkway in the Fountains at Roseville Shopping Center. Hours are 10 a.m to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Call (916) 789-9100.
