A groundbreaking event for the Sacramento Children's Museum will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Rancho Cordova.
The museum, to be built next to Rancho Cordova City Hall, 2701 Prospect Park Drive, will be tailored to children ages 8 and younger. It will include a permanent exhibit of children's art produced from artwork kits that will be available for purchase only at the groundbreaking event.
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for children to create art that will be permanently displayed in the museum," Natalie Truman, museum fund development director, said in a news release.
The museum, scheduled to open in 2010, will feature several exhibit areas designed to foster imagination and hands-on activities.
The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 5:15 p.m.
The celebration will include music, games, entertainment and other free family-oriented activities.
Radio Disney will provide music and prizes for children ages 13 and younger.
