1. No Budget-Day 30 VO/SOT

The state budget is now 30 days overdue, and despite optimistic statements from various officials regarding an imminent resolution to the budget stalemate, there are scant signs an agreement will be reached soon. No legislative sessions to resolve the budget standoff are scheduled. Tomorrow, Governor Schwarzenegger has indicated he will sign an Executive Order cutting state employee pay to the federal minimum wage, over concerns the state will soon run out of money. 2. Doctor on Sick Days Bill VO/SOT

A physician who specializes in infectious diseases will discuss the public health implications of paid sick leave legislation being considered by state lawmakers. Efforting soundbites and video.

3. Faster Rail Commutes VO/SOT

Railroad and state transportation officials this morning will break ground for a new rail crossover intended to reduce commute train delays of the Capitol Corridor train and other passenger trains. 4. Latino Youth Leaders

GOVERNOR'S SCHEDULE

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is in Sacramento today. He has no public events scheduled. BTW, today is the Gov's 61st Birthday.

LEGISLATURE'S SCHEDULE

The state budget is now 30 days overdue, but there are no legislative sessions scheduled today for the Senate or Assembly to resolve the budget stalemate. All members of both houses are on call, meaning sessions could be convened on 24 hours notice should a budget deal be struck.
