1. Judge Group's Rare Stance VO/SOT

An obscure measure, among a dozen propositions on the November 4th ballot, is prompting an obscure but well-respected group to take what it calls an extraordinarily rare action of announcing a position on a statewide ballot measure. The California Association of Judges is opposing Proposition 5, a proposal that would expand diversion of drug offenders from prisons into treatment programs. Efforting soundbites and video.

2. UCLA Study Criticizes Proposition 36 VO/SOT

A UCLA study released this week concludes Proposition 36, approved by voters in 2000, isn't working as depicted by supporters. The state and local government program offers treatment instead of prison for nonviolent drug offenders.

Efforting soundbites and video.

3. California Guard Helicopters Depart VO

Ceremony for 50 soldiers departing Mather Air Field in their UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters. They are flying to Oklahoma and then will be deployed in Afghanistan. Efforting video.
