1. SEX OFFENDERS AT DAY AND FOSTER CARE HOMES VO/SOT

A state audit indicates sex offenders were living in at least nine homes used for day care or foster care. The state does either denies or suspends licenses for day care facilities or foster homes when a sex offender resides there. Not informing the state social services department of an offenders residence in such a home is also a violation of state law. The lawmakers that requested the audit are conducting a news conference at the State Capitol this morning. Efforting soundbites and video.

2. ANIMAL TESTING BILL VO/SOT

The Assembly Judiciary Committee is considering a bill that would shield researchers who do testing on animals. In the past, these individuals have been targeted by animal rights activists. Efforting soundbites and video.

3. SALMON HEARING VO/SOT

The Joint Committee on Fisheries and Aquaculture will convene an exploratory hearing related to the collapse of the salmon population in California including its impact on fishermen and tribes and potential causes. Federal and state regulators say scientists speculate warming ocean temperatures decreased the salmons' food supply and that the declining ecosystem of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta played a role in the drastic reduction of fish returning from the ocean to the state's rivers, although they say there is no definitive cause. A federal judge also ruled that federal and state regulators did not take declining salmon species into account when they authorized increased pumping in the delta. That Fresno judge has reduced pumping from the delta to the South San Francisco, Central Valley and Southern California areas. Efforting soundbites and video.

4. TIBET RALLY VO/SOT
