1. Snow/Water Survey VO/SOT

The Department of Water Resources will conduct its final Snow Survey of the 2008 season. Monthly measurements are taken in the Sierra high country five times between January and May to determine how much freshwater runoff will be available during the dry summer months. Efforting soundbites and video from state seismologists and the office of emergency services about recent earthquakes throughout California and Reno.

3. May Day Protest for Illegal Immigrants VO/SOT

The group Unica Civica Primero de Mayo is staging a rally at the capitol urging the recognition of civil rights for illegal immigrant workers. Efforting soundbites and video.

4. Border Governors Prepare for Bird Flu VO/SOT

Representatives from the offices of emergency services from California, New Mexico and Arizona and the Mexican states of Baja California, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Sonora and Tamaulipas will meet at the Office of Emergency Services near Sacramento to discuss coordinating efforts among the border states to respond to pandemic flu or other emergencies or natural disasters. 5. Digital TV VO/SOT

The California Broadcasters Association is sponsoring a kickoff rally for Digital Television Education Month. Starting next February, all United States television stations will cease broadcasting analog signals, switching to a digital broadcasting format. The change will render television sets with analog tuners obsolete, unless owners purchase digital add-on converter boxes. Government subsidies for converter boxes are available. Airline Passengers Bill of Rights The Assembly is expected to vote on the Airline Passenger's Bill of Rights legislation that would require airlines provide fresh water, food and working toilets for tarmac delays longer than three hours. There is question this morning as to whether that bill will go up for a vote or not. CTNS is monitoring and will put it on the feed if it does.

Million Mile May State lawmakers and the group Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates will urge area residents to commute by bicycle during the month of May. Area riders will be asked to log their miles, with a goal of totaling a recorded million miles.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is in Los Angeles for a dedication at the Simon Wiesenthal Center.
