1. State Budget-The Sequel VO/SOT
Just weeks after completing the state budget, state sales and income tax revenues are falling below their forecast levels. The reduced revenue leaves the state billions short from a balanced budget. In response, the Governor will meet tomorrow with the state's legislative leaders, (the so-called Big 5) to re-open budget talks that could include more spending cuts, borrowing, or tax increases. 2. Concerns over Jobless Benefits Fund VO/SOT
The Assembly Insurance and Budget Subcommittee #4 will hold an informational hearing to investigate solvency concerns about the state's Unemployment Insurance Fund, which is supported by an employer-based tax. Efforting soundbites and video.

Three public and private public policy research groups discuss public anxiety about California budget problems, national security, the financial industry meltdown, housing and government leadership. Efforting soundbites and video.
3. Political Practices VO/SOT
California Political Practices Commission staff will discuss a proposal to allow state government agencies to legally spend money on communications with voters about pending ballot measures, a practice currently prohibited, as long as they provide fair, impartial facts.
