The price of gas has hit four dollars a gallon and now the California legislature is proposing a two dollar and sixty eight cents per gallon tax on beer. That equals a dollar eighty a six pack and 30 cents per bottle or can. The two billion dollars this is expected to raise would be sued to fund emergency and trauma care and police services. WILD DEMOCRATIC DELEGATE RACES VO/SOT
This Sunday, thousands of Californian registered Democrats will have the opportunity to vote for the delegates that will cast votes for Hillary Clinton or Barak Obama at the Democratic Convention in Denver in August. Normally, these races are decided before the primary without much interest or fanfare. In this case, each congressional district will select three to six delegates, some from a field of more than 70 aspiring delegates. Each of the delegate candidates are campaigning on the web and via phone, to convince registered Democrats to vote for them after each of them makes a speech at caucuses throughout the state on Sunday. WARHOL PHOTOS OPENED VO/SOT
The University of California Davis art department will open box filled with 100 small color polaroid photos taken by the late artist Andy Warhol. They are a donation from the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts in New York which has given portions of the photograph collection to 183 university art museums throughout the United States. VP in Capital Area Vice President Dick Cheney is making a brief stop in the capital area to attend a fundraiser in Wilton (southern Sacramento County) for Congressman Dan Lundgren (R-Gold River).
Denham Anti Recall Kick Off The Friends of Jeff Denham Against the Recall campaign will have a kick off event in Modesto to denounce the effort. The Republican senator will be joined by local elected officials, community groups and supporters who say the Senate President Pro Tempore's effort to recall him is an abuse of the recall process and a power grab attempt from outside the senate district.
