1. Berkeley/Marine Bill VO/SOT
The bill by Assemblyman Guy Houston to cut state transportation funds (about $3.3 million) to the City of Berkeley until it rescinds its anti-U.S. Marine resolution will be heard today in the Assembly Transportation Committee. Efforting soundbites and video.
2. Gold Star License Plates VO/SOT
The California National Guard Association and the Department of Veterans Affairs will call for a hearing that would create a gold star license plate for families who wanted to honor service members killed in combat. The Gold Star is a nationally recognized symbol honoring families which have lost loved ones in combat. Efforting soundbites and video.

Dr, Michael Reichle, the Chief Seismologist of the California Geologic Survey will discuss the results of a new report on the probabilities of earthquakes in California, including a comparison of the Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay Area. Efforting soundbites and video.
4. Plastic Bag Tax VO/SOT
The group Heal the Bay is sponsoring a bill to impose a 25-cent per bag tax on stores that use disposal plastic shopping bags. Heal the Bay says taxpayers in California spend more than 25 million dollars per year to collect and dispose such bags. Payday Loans- Three lawmakers will tout their bill to extend current federal payday loan rules that apply to military personnel to all California residents.
Cloned Food Bill The Senate Appropriations Committee will consider a bill (SB 1121) requiring the labeling of food products that contain materials from cloned animals or offspring of cloned animals.
Health Screening Vehicle- The National Urban League and Walgreens have organized an 11-month tour of a mobile health-screening van. The van will make a stop today at the state capitol.
Dangerous Chemicals- Assembly members will discuss their package of bills intended to reduce the exposure of California residents to chemicals such as lead.
