Nailgun-related injuriesConstruction workers and house framers were among the 126 people whose serious injuries from nail gun-related accidents were reported to the California Department of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal-OSHA) between 1997 and 2007. The map includes only those cases where the worker's employer reported the injury -- and many fail to report. Many of the accidents occurred in fast-growing areas. Editor's note: The data about some workers' length of hospital stay is based on Bee research — not Cal-OSHA reports — following interviews with the people involved, who said that their stay was underreported by Cal-OSHA.
