A bicyclist killed early Thursday morning has been identified by coroner's officials as Cory Peck of the Antelope area of Sacramento County.

Peck, 48, was riding east on Blue Oaks Boulevard between Del Webb Boulevard and Crocker Ranch Road about 4:20 a.m. Thursday when he was struck by a Chevrolet pickup traveling in the same direction, said Sgt. Mike Pendergraft.

Peck died at the scene.

Pendergraft declined to provide details about the crash, but said alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

Peck was wearing a helmet and his bike had good lighting equipment, police spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther said.

The 45-mph stretch of road has a well-marked bike lane.

Jose Baca, Peck's stepson, said Peck was on his way to work at the time.

Peck, a computer technician at a Roseville computer company, was an avid bicyclist and had been riding to work each day for years, he said.
