Sacramento residents can record personal memories of Sacramento's past for future generations to see and hear through the "California of the Past" digital story project at the Central Library, 828 I St.

Recorded topics might include:

• What Sacramento and neighboring communities were like in years past.

• Memories of raising one's children in the community.

• Witnessing a historic local event.

Music, personal photographs and oral history will be combined to create a video tapestry of local history. Residents, students and scholars will be able to view the recorded stories in the Sacramento Room's historical archives at the Central Library.

The project is made possible through a grant provided by the California State Library.

The public can submit digital story applications through June 21. Call (916) 264-2920 or go online at www.saclibrary.org and click "California of the Past."
