A 30-year-old man was booked into jail on July Fourth in connection with a home-invasion incident in the Country Club area, authorities said.

The suspect, identified as Walter Cambron, knocked on a door on the 3100 block of Ellington Circle sometime after 8 a.m., said Sgt. Tim Curran, spokesman for the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.

"The homeowner answered the door, and then closed it," Curran said. "The intruder then ripped the screen off the door and tried to get into the residence."

Cambron eventually succeeded in getting into the house, where he struggled with the homeowner, Curran said.

Cambron was chased from the house. As he fled, he was stabbed in the buttocks by a neighbor, Curran said.

Cambron was arrested by responding sheriff's deputies.

"Our deputies took him to a hospital, where he was medically cleared" for rapid trans-portation to Sacramento County jail, Curran said.

Drug items found in car

Two men contacted in a vehicle stop in the Arden area were in possession of drug paraphernalia and other items associated with gang membership, a deputy reported.

At 7:45 a.m. July 5, the men were stopped at Edison Avenue and Truax Court near Howe Avenue, the report said.

A search of the vehicle revealed 40 syringes, numerous plastic baggies, a digital scale and several red shirts and red bandanas, which may have been indicative of gang membership, the report said.

The two men, Johnny Amaro, 26, and Jonathon Robinson, 22, were taken into custody on suspicion of violating parole, the report said.

Neighbor held in assault

A 22-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by her neighbor in the Arden area, a deputy's report said.

At 1:32 a.m. July 6, the neighbor went to the woman's back patio area at an apartment in the 2500 block of Hurley Way near Fulton Avenue, the report said.

The man initiated a conversation with the woman, then forced her into her residence. The woman, fearing for her safety, dialed 911 and left the phone receiver off the hook, the report said.

The man, identified as Melkior Lumentut, 37, then sexually assaulted the woman, the report said.

When deputies knocked on the victim's front door, Lumentut ran out a back sliding door. He subsequently was arrested at his apartment on suspicion of sexually assaulting the woman, the report said.
