A Marysville teenager died Wednesday night after a vehicle driven by a suspected drunken driver collided head-on with her car northeast of the city.
Yuba County coroner's officials identified the girl as Danielle Woodruff. She was on her way to a birthday party in Hallwood when the crash occurred.
Woodruff was driving eastbound on Highway 20 west of Plantz Road in a 1990 Ford at 5:55 p.m. when a westbound vehicle driven by Lorenzo Flores, 50, of Marysville crossed the center divide, forcing two other cars onto the shoulder, and slammed head-on into the Ford, a California Highway Patrol report states.
Woodruff's car and Flores' 1993 Mercury were badly damaged.
The impact caused Flores' car to roll and land on its roof in the center of the highway. Woodruff's car spun and came to rest along the right shoulder, the report states.
Both drivers suffered major injuries and were taken to Rideout Memorial Hospital in Marysville, where Woodruff died.
Flores has a broken femur.
CHP officers who investigated the crash determined that alcohol was a factor in the crash, and Flores was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter, the report states.
Several people witnessed the crash and provided details to investigators.
