Nearly 20 Sacramento-area agencies will split more than $4.9 million in federal recovery cash to fund local job-training and job-creation programs, officials announced Monday.
The stimulus funding from the Department of Labor and allocated by the Sacramento Employment and Training Agency will go to programs that provide green jobs training, promote small business development or expansion, and provide workplace learning and job creation.
The programs will begin Aug. 1, SETA officials said.
The money will go to a wide range of agencies, nonprofits, technical schools, college and university programs including Los Rios Community College District, MTI College, Greater Sacramento Urban League and heating and air conditioning firm Beutler Corp., which plans to hire and cross-train workers in climate control, plumbing and other skills.
