A self-proclaimed Meadowview Bloods gang member was arrested about 12:15 a.m. July 2 on suspicion of armed robbery, Citrus Heights police said.
The teenager, just a few weeks shy of his 17th birthday, allegedly threatened two groups of people with a gun.
He took a cell phone in one incident and went through another person's pockets in the other incident, police said.
Police provide scant information about juvenile arrests, but the incidents appeared to have occurred in the area around Parkcrest Way, off Parkoaks Drive, just south of Greenback Lane.
Based on witness information, police spotted the youth in a car with two other occupants.
Officers made a traffic stop, and the boy attempted to run but was chased down by officers in the 6400 block of Parkcrest Way, officials said.
Another juvenile, who remained in the car, was taken into custody on a misdemeanor warrant, police said.
The arrest was the second in recent weeks involving alleged gang members.
Three men who allegedly fired shots at a house on Beaupre Way on June 24 remain in Sacramento County Main Jail, with bail set at $100,000 each.
Charges against those men include suspicion of participating in a criminal street gang.
The suspected gang activity occurred as the Citrus Heights City Council prepared for a discussion today on Sacramento County Supervisor Roger Dickinson's proposal to increase sales tax to pay for gang-intervention programs.
Residents west of Interstate 80 will be briefed Tuesday on the long-awaited project to transform Antelope Road during the monthly meeting of the Northwest Neighborhood Association.
The group meets at 7 p.m. in the community room at Sierra Meadows Mobile Estates, 7600 Daly Ave.
Antelope Road is one of Citrus Heights' main public safety headaches.
The proposed improvements also will impact other northern Sacramento County residents who use the street to reach Interstate 80 from Antelope and North Highlands.
Project goals include adding travel lanes in both directions and construction of sidewalks where none exist now or reconstruction of existing sidewalks.
Medians and traffic signals also will be improved.
Construction is expected to start this summer on the stretch of Antelope Road from Interstate 80 to the city's western boundary near Roseville Road.
Work is expected to take 18 months, officials said.
Two Citrus Heights men face felony charges of possession of marijuana for sale.
Citrus Heights police arrested David Rolland Beedy, 18, and Jacob Stephen Scandone, 19, about 3:15 p.m. July 1, after a tip led them to an apartment at 12801 Fair Oaks Blvd.
Both men were arrested on suspicion of possessing concentrated cannabis and marijuana for sale.
They were arraigned July 3 and are scheduled to return to court later this month.
Citrus Heights police arrested Darrell Gene Chapman, 49, about 2:30 p.m. July 3 after a probation search at his home in the 8200 block of Villaview Drive.
The search turned up suspected methamphetamine, morphine, ecstasy, and marijuana, along with prescription drugs.
Chapman remained in Sacramento County Main Jail on Monday, facing several charges including suspicion of possession of controlled substances for sale and probation violation.
His bail was set at $115,000 and jail records indicated no projected release date.
