FRIDAY-SATURDAY 'Annie Jr.': Orangevale Open K-8 School presents the Broadway musical "Annie Jr.," the Depression-era rags-to-riches story about a waif who yearns to be rescued from the orphanage and the clutches of the mean- spirited Miss Hannigan. Directed by Kitty Czarnecki and produced by Barb Collopy. When: 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Performances continue with a children's matinee at 2:30 p.m. March 6 and general performances at 7 p.m. March 7-8. Where: Orangevale Open K-8 School, 5630 Illinois Ave., Fair Oaks. FRIDAY 'Girls Night Out': The Placerville Downtown Association presents "Girls Night Out," a new event focusing on activities that appeal to women. Evening events include extended hours for shopping on historic Main Street, a fashion show, bunco, floral arranging, crafting, cooking and health and beauty demonstrations, drawings for prizes, wine, cheese and chocolate tastings and restaurant specials. SATURDAY Band fundraiser: Bella Vista High School marching band, color guard and drill teams present the third annual "Pirate Gala" crab feed, an all-you-can-eat feast including salads, bread, spaghetti, dessert and a no-host bar. Evening events include a silent auction, drawings for prizes and music by the San Juan Unified School District's only marching band. When: 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday. Dr. Seuss Read-a-Thon: Celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday at a pajama party, complete with a full day of storytelling with six reading stations throughout the park, children's activities including visits with the Cat in the Hat and Humpty Dumpty, entertainment and arts and crafts. All guests are encouraged to wear pajamas.
