From small, postage stamp-size plots to shady retreats with meandering paths and koi ponds, a dozen private gardens in the Placerville and Camino areas will open their gates to the public during Placerville Community Pride's 10th annual garden tour, "Springtime in the Foothills," on May 18.
The self-guided tour, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine, raises funds to support Placerville's public garden and art programs. Tickets, in the form of a brochure providing descriptions of the gardens and directions, are $15 per person. They may be purchased at Town Hall, 549 Main St., Placerville, as well as several area businesses including Lighthouse, Placerville Clothing Co., Front Yard Nursery, El Dorado Nursery and Garden, and Camino Garden Center.
An order form may be downloaded from the city of Placerville's Web site, www.cityofplacerville.org.
For details, call (530) 642-5232 or (530) 344-1981.
