A teacher at a charter school in Placer County has been booked into Santa Clara County jail, accused of child molestation. James McNealy Carroll of Roseville was arrested by detectives from the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety and booked into Santa Clara County jail.
A Grass Valley man is in Placer County Jail after he allegedly shot a woman Saturday at a home on Joeger Road in the North Auburn area. Sheriff’s officials said the woman was in critical condition Monday.
A man captured with the aid of a 14-year-old Granite Bay girl in 2013 has been sentenced to 17 years and four months in state prison for a three-month crime spree. Mitchell Paul Leahy was accused of burglarizing homes in Folsom and Orangevale, and was arrested following an attempted break-in at a Granite Bay residence.
Two Sacramento County residents were arrested Wednesday, accused of using a fraudulent check and stolen identity to purchase furniture at a Roseville store. Detectives reported finding stolen mail, stolen and forged identification, and property possibly stolen in Sacramento County burglaries during a search of the couple’s apartment.

An Auburn couple are in Placer County jail, accused of stabbing a man in the north Auburn area Thursday evening. Arrested were Anthony Manuel Najera, 27, and Cora Lee Najera, 29. Sheriff’s officials said the 24-year-old victim’s injuries were serious but not life-threatening.

The man accused of plowing into and killing two teenagers near Auburn on Sunday had filled a prescription for the sleeping aid Ambien earlier that day, and five pills were missing from the bottle, a prosecutor said Thursday as the suspect pleaded not guilty in Placer Superior Court. Philip Morris Ingram, 62, had one Ambien pill in his pocket when he was arrested along Highway 49 after the fatal collision, said Doug Van Breemen, Placer County supervising deputy district attorney.
