The Folsom Cordova Unified School District has received one of the first Creating Healthy Environments Awards from the Sacramento County Obesity Prevention Coalition.
The coalition's mission is to support and engage the community in development of physically active and healthy children through education, coordination and promotion of physical activity and healthy eating. The coalition has 15 goals in five different areas, including health care, community, environment, schools and preschools/childcare.
Mary Ann Delleney, Folsom Cordova's health programs coordinator, said the school district is engaged in some way in support of all 15 goals.
