Workshops to discuss the decision by the Eldorado National Forest supervisor designating a system of motorized travel routes in the forest are scheduled in Placerville and three other Northern California locations in April.
The final environmental impact statement and the record of decision, explaining the rationale for the routes included in the system, are scheduled for release Wednesday.
An open house will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 5 in the Organ Room at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds, 100 Placerville Drive, Placerville.
Additional open houses are scheduled from 3 to 9 p.m. April 10 in the Aspen Room, Lake Tahoe Community College, 1 College Drive, South Lake Tahoe; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 12, Diablo Valley College cafeteria, 321 Golf Club Road, Pleasant Hill; and 3 to 8 p.m. April 17, Amador County Board of Supervisors' office, 810 Court St., Jackson.
A compact disc containing the final environmental impact statement and a copy of the record of decision will be given to open house participants who need them.
Forest Service employees will be on hand to discuss how the decision was reached; review maps; help people find information in the environmental impact statement; talk about activities related to implementing the decision, including volunteer work; gain insights into project funding; and learn how the National Environmental Policy Act affects any proposed changes to the route system.
Detailed information about the motorized travel routes project is available on the Eldorado National Forest Web site at www.fs.fed.us/r5/eldorado.
