Casino manager hired

Peter FordhamCQCL has been named general manager of The Red Hawk Casino, scheduled to open this fall on the Shingle Springs Rancheria in El Dorado County.

Fordham has more than 30 years experience in the gaming and hospitality industry, managing large, full-service American Indian casinos, according to a news release.

He previously was principal operating officer with S & K Gaming LLC, a tribally chartered entity owned by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of northwest Montana. Fordham was responsible for managing operations for the tribe's gaming and hospitality facilities, including the KwaTaqNuk Resort Casino and the Gray Wolf Peak Casino, also in northwest Montana.

He also served as corporate senior vice president of operations for Cascade Entertainment LLC, a casino and resort management company that has partnered with American Indian tribes in California. During that time he was involved in developing and opening Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino in Coarsegold, near Yosemite.

Fordham also held senior-level positions with Grand Casino Coushatta in Kinder, La., and Grand Casino Hinckley in Hinckley, Minn.

The Red Hawk Casino is under construction north of Highway 50 in Shingle Springs. It is owned by the Shingle Springs Gaming Authority, an agency of the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians, and managed by Lakes Entertainment Inc.

The casino will feature more than 2,000 slot machines, table games, six restaurants, four bars, and lighted and covered parking.
