Elk Grove police arrested a 35-year-old Sacramento man Wednesday who allegedly robbed one woman and attempted to carjack another within four days.
Gregory Hail was arrested on suspicion of robbery and carjacking for the two incidents, said Officer Christopher Trim, spokesman for the Elk Grove police.
At 7:20 p.m. Sept. 24, a 66-year-old woman was sitting in the passenger seat of a car parked in the Walgreens parking lot at 7299 Laguna Blvd. in Elk Grove when Hail reportedly jerked the door open and tried to pull her out of the car. She screamed for help and fought him off, according to police.
The second incident occurred at 5:50 p.m. Sunday when Hail allegedly approached a woman in the Wal-Mart parking lot at 8465 Elk Grove Blvd. and asked if she wanted to buy CDs, police said.
When she said no and turned away, Hail reportedly placed an object, which the woman believed was a gun, against her back. He demanded her wallet and money, which she gave him, officers said.
Investigating officers developed information that identified Hail as a suspect in both incidents. He was arrested at his home in Sacramento. The vehicle identified by a witness at Wal-Mart was found at the home, Trim said.
