ELK GROVE The City Council announced Wednesday night it has hired El Dorado County Chief Administrative Officer Laura Gill as city manager.
Gill is the permanent replacement for City Manager John Danielson, who announced in September that he would leave his city post April 2.
Gill will start in Elk Grove on June 16 at $195,000 a year.
She served as El Dorado County's top administrative officer on an interim basis for four months in 2003 and was named to the permanent post that August.
Before that, she worked for Durham, N.C., for 15 years, serving as assistant city manager when she left that city.
Gill has a master's degree in public administration from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
Since Danielson's departure, Elk Grove has been run by interim city managers Jim Estep and Cody Tubbs.
