Elk Grove names new city clerk

The Elk Grove City Council has named Susan J. Blackston city clerk, filling the post held by Peggy Jackson, who retired this month.
Blackston had served as Elk Grove's assistant city clerk for nearly two years.
"Susan has notably distinguished herself in the City Clerk's Office," Mayor Gary Davis said in a prepared statement.
"Time and time again, Susan demonstrates her dedication to customer service and showcases daily a depth of knowledge of the laws and regulations that govern public records management," he said.
As city clerk, Blackston is responsible for overseeing all official city records, contracts and agreements, preparing City Council agendas and minutes, and managing the department.
