Morro Bay will host its 10th annual Kite Festival on Saturday and Sunday, April 23-24, on its sandy Central Coast shores.
The event will be held at Morro Bay Beach, which is northeast of Morro Rock.
Saturday’s festivities will kick off with a 5K run at 10 a.m., followed by kite flying, a sand castle-building contest and a dockside dinner.
A family kite relay, homemade kite contest and another sand castle-building contest will be hosted Sunday.

Events kick off at 10 a.m. both days and are free for the whole family. However, there is a $10 entry fee for Saturday morning’s 5K race.

Worlds of Flavor
What: The Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley will host its Worlds of Flavor culinary conference and festival, which brings together the nation’s most influential names for a weekend of food exploration. This year’s event will be focused on cuisine from Europe and the Americas.

Gold Nugget Days
What: The town of Paradise will host its annual Gold Nugget Days event, which celebrates the finding of a 54-pound gold nugget at Whiskey Flat back in 1859. The four-day festival will host a pageant, nugget-decorating contest, donkey derby, parade and more.

Gold Country Pro Rodeo
What: The historic town of Auburn will host its annual Gold Country Pro Rodeo, which will bring together amateur to professional level riders to compete. In addition to traditional rodeo activities, the event will feature live musical performances by country artist Buck Ford and a street party hosted Saturday evening.

Earth Day Food and Wine Festival
What: The Earth Day Food and Wine Festival offers an afternoon of high-caliber food, beer and wine options, paired with a casual and relaxing environment at Castoro Cellars in Templeton.

Pacific Coast Dream Machines
What: The 26th annual Pacific Coast Dream Machines vehicle show will host antique cars, aircraft, motorcycles and tractors, as well as living history displays. This one-day event displays the most interesting, unique vehicles from different eras.
