Escape for a day of family fun in the Sierra Nevada and celebrate the Fourth of July.
Known for its excellent trout fishing and cross-country skiing, the town of Bridgeport will hold its Fourth of July celebration during a three-day event, held from Friday, July 1, through July 4. The event will feature a rodeo, tri-tip dinners, horseshoe tournaments, mud volleyball, a rubber duck race, and more.
Fireworks will be available for purchase. There will also be a professional fireworks show on the Fourth.
The event is free. Rodeo tickets are $10 for adults; $7 for 10- to 16-year-olds; children get in for free.

Fillmore Jazz Festival
What: Fillmore Street in San Francisco is hosting the largest free jazz festival on the West Coast. Musicians such as Kim Nalley and the group Soul Power will pay tribute to recently deceased music greats such as Prince and Maurice White of Earth, Wind & Fire.

What: Balboa Park will host an exhibition that brings the Italian master Leonardo Da Vinci’s inventions, artworks and machines to life.

High Sierra Music Festival
What: Get captivated by top music acts such as Thievery Corporation and Ben Harper and The Innocent Criminals. The festival offers camping, yoga, arts, crafts and food.
