Sample from a variety of Placer County wineries, plus enjoy appetizers and live music. This event benefits Toys For Tots, and discounts will be available on some purchases with toy donations.

Soup is the star here

Taste a variety of soups from area restaurants, including Seasons and the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-Op, and pick your favorites at the Camellia Waldorf School Winter Faire. Gingerbread workshops, crafts, live music and entertainment will be included.

When: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday

Where: Camellia Waldorf School, 5701 Freeport Blvd., Sacramento

Cost: Free admission; soups cost $4 for a single serving, $8 for three samples, $9 for large soup with salad and bread, and $10 for three soup samples plus salad and bread.

Add festive designs to winter holiday cookies in this free event sponsored by the Sacramento Public Library. Sprinkles and colored icings will be available for decorating.
