The 29th annual Kick Off Tournament for rugby, an event that last year drew 137 teams from Oregon and California, takes place this weekend at Cordova High School.

This year's event also includes a contingent of 100 people representing the Mavericks of Calgary, Alberta. The tournament involves boys and girls ages 7 to 17.

The event hosted by the Sacramento Valley Rugby Foundation with the Sacramento Valley Youth Rugby Organization begins at 8 a.m. today and Sunday at the high school. The two organizations share the net proceeds, which go to a variety of charitable purposes tied to rugby and youth sports.

Parking is $5. There is no charge to spectators.
