An upcoming Elk Grove workshop will target teen stress, one of the causes of substance abuse and low achievement.

Registration is open for "The Game of Life: Time Is of the Essence," hosted by the Elk Grove Youth Commission. The workshop is slated for March 23, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the City Council chambers at 8400 Laguna Palms Way.

The class will cover time management, prioritizing and balancing schoolwork, and personal and social life. It is part of an effort to lower stress, reduce substance abuse and improve school attendance and emotional health among teens.
