The Snowbirds, the Royal Canadian Air Force's jet demonstration team, will headline this year's California Capital Airshow at Mather Airport.

"We are proud to be one of the few shows in the nation this year with a military jet demonstration team," Darcy Brewer, the air show's executive director, said in a written statement announcing the lineup of performers for the Oct. 5-6 event.

The Pentagon has suspended air show performances by the United States' military demonstration teams the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds because of the federal budget sequester.

The show also will feature the Horsemen, flying three F-86 Sabre jets; five-time national aerobatic champion Kirby Chambliss; the Red Bull Air Force wingsuit fliers; Franklin's Flying Circus "Dracula" stunt plane; Greg Shelton's and Ashley Battles' barnstorming and wing-walking act; and the Indy Boys. This year's show also will feature the return of aerobatic daredevils Michael Goulian and John Klatt Airshows.
