Kudos to: Colleen Watters, volunteer

Accomplishment: Named American River Parkway Foundation volunteer of year

Details: Watters is a steward of 200 oak trees in William Pond park. She has also used her expertise as an estate-planning lawyer to help the foundation with a planned giving program.

Kudos to: Alex Sabbadini, student intern

Accomplishment: Named by Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office as an outstanding volunteer

Details: For two years, Sabbadini worked with the DA’s major crimes division. He assisted lawyers on homicide cases by organizing case materials, preparing exhibits and providing courtroom support and witness management.

Kudos to: Mason Myers and Catherine Curran, Shriners Hospitals for Children Northern California

Accomplishment: Given award from California School Nurses Organization

Details: The award recognizes contributions to the well-being of children and school nursing by someone other than a school nurse. Myers, staff development manager, and Curran, communications director, organized a seminar for school nurses at the hospital.
