Applause: Kudos to Carol Garcia, Save Mart CARES, Anthony Robbins Foundation and Bruce Lagomarsino

Carol Garcia was presented the “Heart of Community” award, in part for helping to raise $1.5 million to fund a physician in perpetuity at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center. The new position will be dedicated to research a cure for breast cancer.

Details: Garcia was presented the award, in part for helping to raise $1.5 million to fund a physician in perpetuity at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center. The new position will be dedicated to research a cure for breast cancer.

Kudos to: Save Mart CARES and Anthony Robbins Foundation

Accomplishment: Provided grants to program for homeless women

Details: Save Mart donated $25,000 and Anthony Robbins $15,000 to Women’s Empowerment’s job-readiness program designed for women who are homeless and their children.

Kudos to: Bruce Lagomarsino, faculty adviser to Mira Loma High School Key Club

Accomplishment: Selected as adviser of the year and inducted into Jack Luther Advisor Hall of Fame

Details: The award at the annual California-Nevada-Hawaii Key Club convention went to Lagomarsino for his good work with the Mira Loma Key Club, a student-led organization that teaches leadership through service to others. He has been the club adviser since 1997.
