Kudos to: Supporters of Stanford Youth Solutions wine auction

Accomplishment: Event raised more than $100,000 for youth and families in crisis

Details: Support and contributions of sponsors, donors, wineries, breweries and restaurants made the Vintage 2014 wine auction possible. A highlight was the story of a young woman whose life was transformed by Stanford and who was chosen as class president of her school.

Kudos to: Antelope High School Titan marching band and color guard

Accomplishment: Selected to represent California in national parade

Details: The band will participate in next year’s National Independence Day Parade in Washington, D.C. Bands are selected on the basis of quality, plus ethnic and stylistic diversity.

Kudos to: Dr. Darryl Hunter

Accomplishment: Given award by American Medical Association Foundation

Details: Dr. Hunter is founder of a coalition that provides cancer screenings, vision exams and dental care. He also co-founded an alliance to connect military veterans to health care benefits.
