Accomplishment: Set up food pantry for students in need
Details: ASI started the food pantry for university students who can’t afford basic necessities. They can receive food and toiletries at no cost. The pantry relies on donations from the greater university community and local businesses.
Kudos to: Sierra College Foundation and community organizations
Accomplishment: Provided 100 care packs to former foster youths at college
Details: Care packs included hygiene items, flash drives, grocery vouchers, calculators and notebooks. Sun City Roseville Needle Arts Club provided each student with a new quilt or afghan, along with a new pillow and pillow case.
Kudos to: Boy Scouts, American Legion Post 637
Accomplishment: Two new flagpoles at Sylvan Ranch Community Garden
Details: Sean Kurdy and his fellow scouts, with contributions from Post 637 and local businesses, constructed the project. The poles will fly the country’s flag, a Missing in Action flag, state flag and the Boy Scout flag, at the nearly 2-acre garden in Citrus Heights.
