UC Davis Children’s Hospital. A toy drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Monday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday. Donors may drop off their donations at the circular driveway of UC Davis MIND Institute, 2825 50th St.
The gifts will go to hospitalized children, as well as children in the pediatric emergency department, outpatient clinics. UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center and UC Davis MIND Institute. Toys and gifts also will be distributed in the hospital’s playrooms and waiting areas throughout the year.
Please note: Due to infection control policies, all items must be new.
Diana Sundberg, child life and creative arts therapy manager, said: “Anyone can make the season brighter for a child staying in our hospital this holiday season. We’re thankful for the continued generosity and support from our community.” UCD Children’s Hospital has partnered for the first time with Starlight Children’s Foundation so anyone can purchase a toy on line from the wish list and have it shipped directly to the hospital for free.

Emigrant Trails Bike Trek. The 2015 Bike Trek is on the calendar for Sept. 11-13 in Calistoga, with staging on the Napa County Fairgrounds. The trek includes two nights of camping, with funds raised to support clean air, healthy lung and tobacco-free prcgrams.
Registration fee through Dec. 31 is $25; from Jan. 1 through May 1 is $40; and from June 1 to Aug. 21 is $65. Trekkers who have registered and have at least $200 in donations by Dec. 31 have a chance to win two free Party Pardee tickets (valued at $90).
The 2014 Trek at South Lake Tahoe had more than 250 registered cyclists assisted by 80 volunteers. The trek raised more than $180,000 to support Emigrant Trails programs. Top fundraiser individuals were Bob Roehrs, Sue Schooley and Barney Gerber. Top teams were Kaiser Permanente, Regional Transit and Bodacious Biking Babes. South Sacramento Rotary. For the 33rd year, the South Sacramento Rotarians will sponsor a crab feed with Jan. 24 the date, and Scottish Rite Hall, 61 51 H St., as the place.
