All things tomato will be celebrated in historic downtown Woodland as Yolo County salutes its signature crop. Vendors offer local arts and crafts, tomato-based foods and lots of fresh tomatoes. Taste varieties from 9 a.m.-noon., then bring some home.
Dog Days of Summer
Where: Green Acres Nursery & Supply, all locations
When: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 13 and 14
Celebrate summer with your pooch. Bring your dog to the nursery and get special discounts. Learn about pet-safe plants and gardening products. Meet volunteers from local animal-loving organizations. Enter the pet photo contest and win prizes.
California State Home & Garden Show
Where: Sacramento Convention Center, 1400 J St., Sacramento
When: Noon-6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19; 10 a.m.-6 p.m. next Saturday, Aug. 20; and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 21
Admission: $6; youths age 16 and under admitted free; seniors $2 (Friday only)
