Chris Hale found a dehydrated cat in a tool box of a burned house at the Tubbs fire in the Coffey Park Neighborhood on Thursday, October 12, 2017 in Santa Rosa. Rescuers planned to take the cat to a shelter.
Mochi “Mo” Rickert, an eight-year-old St. Bernard from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, now holds the Guinness World Records for having the Longest tongue on a dog. Her tongue measures 7.31 inches in length. According to a Guinness press release, "It enables her to eat quickly and sometimes causes her to fling food up to two or four feet across a room!"

This Saturday and Sunday, August 5 and 6, 2017, Sacramento's Front Street Animal Shelter will have kittens available for adoption at a discounted rate of $20 at their Petco satellite adoption center at 1878 Arden Way. The adoption fee, which can only be paid in cash, includes your kitten's spay or neuter surgery, vaccines and microchip. Here are a few of the more than 200 kittens in search of a new home this weekend. The adoption center will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days.
