The public is invited Saturday to the fifth annual “Canine Pentathlon,” a fund-raising event for A New Leash on Life, a charity that comforts dog lovers who are coping with cancer.

Relay teams of dogs will compete in agility, dock jumping, herding and other events from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 10-acre Performance Dogs In Action compound, 7089 Pleasant Grove Road, in Pleasant Grove, Sutter County.

Admission is free but proceeds from a raffle and silent auction go to A New Leash on Life.

To get there from Sacramento, take Intertate 5 north to Highway 99 north. Exit east (right) on Riego Road to Pleasant Grove Road and make a left. Performance Dogs in Action is 1.5 miles up the road.
