There's no end to things to do and see at Lake Tahoe, which stradles the California-Nevada border. This internationally known vacation spot offers the usual summertime activities -- swimming, boating, water skiing, fishing, rafting and hiking along with breathtaking views of the very blue lake and the Sierra Nevada mountains. When the winter snow falls, and keeps falling, sleds and skis are the norm. And if the great outdoors isn't enough, the Nevada side of the lake offers vacationers plenty of casinos where they can win -- or lose -- money.
There are two main highways to Lake Tahoe from the Sacramento area: Interstate 80 and U.S. Highway 50.
