The victims of a weekend plane crash in Lake Tahoe have been identified, authorities said Tuesday.
A single-engine plane crashed shortly after taking off from Lake Tahoe Airport at 9:50 p.m. Saturday, killing all five people on board.
The victims were all Fresno residents: Harold Cardwell, 60, and his wife Kin Cardwell, 41; Francisco De La Mora, 43, his wife Lorena De La Mora, 39, and their daughter Esmeralda De La Mora, 6.
Witnesses said they heard engine problems before the plane dipped, and the pilot attempted a turn, according to reports from the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office.
The crash ignited a small fire that took more than 90 minutes to put out. According to the National Transportation Safety Board, the plane was involved in a 2005 non-injury crash in Destin, Fla.
The National Transportation Safety Board has opened an investigation into the crash.
