Sacramento-area hotels saw a sharp decrease in occupancy rates in November, not necessarily a surprise as rates historically tend to drop from October to November.

The San Francisco office of industry tracker PKF Consulting USA said the area's average occupancy rate in November was 61 percent, down from 61.9 percent in November 2011 and 69.7 percent in October 2012.

The average daily room rate in the Sacramento area in November was $92.62, up from from $88.91 in November 2011 but short of $96.49 in October 2012. Through 11 months of 2012, the average occupancy rate in Sacramento was 67.8 percent, up from 66.2 percent in the year-ago period.
