To celebrate Nevada’s 150th birthday, experience the state’s mining history at Comstock Muckfest on Saturday and learn how miners toiled to find ore in the blasted rock. Tour local museums, view mining demonstrations (historic and modern), compete in a contest, see a live minting, or just enjoying hopping on and off the city trolley.
Muckfest takes place around Virginia City from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Most events are free, but team races cost $10 and dry panning (hunting for treasure) costs up to $15. For details: www.visitvirginiacitynv.com.
