The Noise Pop Music Festival, dedicated to independent music, film and art, kicks off in the San Francisco Bay Area on Thursday, Feb. 18, and runs through Feb. 28. Artists such as Carly Rae Jepson and Metric will perform at venues throughout the city.
Feb. 22’s lineup includes a David Bowie tribute party at the Independent (8 p.m.; 628 Divisadero St., San Francisco) featuring a screening of the Bowie concert documentary “Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars” and a performance by cover band Everyone Is Bowie.
Individual event tickets can be purchased at the door or online. All-access badges, starting at $55, are also available for purchase online.

Winter Wine Classic
What: Attend the fifth annual Winter Wine Classic, presented at the Fess Parker Resort overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The event will present and sample a variety of wines produced by dozens of Central Coast wineries.

Clam Chowder Cook-Off
What: Check out this public clam chowder cook-off and tasting, featuring clam chowder made by some of Santa Cruz’s finest chefs. Amateur and professional competitions will be judged, and winners will be announced in the afternoon.

American Indian Art Show
What: Join historic art enthusiasts for the 32nd annual American Indian Art Show, a showcase of American Indian antique jewelry, textiles, pottery, paintings and more. The event features a display of more than 150 rare, historic California American Indian-crafted baskets.

Bird Sanctuary Day
What: Enjoy a day of bird-watching, bird history and bird exhibits during the annual celebration of Avila Beach’s resident bird population. A presentation from bird rescue nonprofit organization Pacific Wildlife Care will feature the stories of rescued birds such as the red-tailed hawk and the Western screech-owl.
