The Sacramento International Film Festival has added a second screening of Colin Hanks’ Tower Records documentary “All Things Must Pass: The Rise and Fall of Tower Records,” after its first Sacramento screening sold out.
The film now will screen at noon April 26 at the Tower Theatre along with a sold-out screening the night before. Tickets are $15 and available through Brown Paper Tickets (800-838-3006).
The Tower Theatre sits in the same building where Tower Records founder Russ Solomon first sold records out of his father’s drugstore. Solomon opened his first Tower store in Sacramento in 1960. The record chain became a $1 billion company before filing for bankruptcy and then closing its U.S. stores, in 2006.
Hanks, a Sacramento native, spent several years working on the documentary, which premiered last month at the South by Southwest Film Festival.
