Prime rib and seafood pasta are standards at award-winning chef Evan Elsberry’s restaurant, Evan’s Kitchen. But over the past few years, he has hosted special dinners matching ethnic cuisines with complementary wines, always coming up with some surprises. In the past, he’s sold out his Italian, Spanish, German and Mexican wine-pairing dinners, and one featuring wild game.
Now he’s presenting “Bon Appétit,” a multi-course meal with a French accent. It’s planned from 6 to 9 p.m. June 15 for $75 per person, with reservations at (916) 452-3896. Evan’s Kitchen is at 855 57th St., Sacramento, in the Antiques Mall. Here’s what to expect: :
FIRST COURSE: Crab-stuffed prawns Sambuca. Wine: Hugel Alsace
SECOND COURSE: Salade composée with apples, pecans and goat cheese, tossed in sherry-hazelnut vinaigrette. Wine: Esprit de Saint Sulpice
THIRD COURSE: Duck breast cannelloni wrapped in phyllo dough with roasted red pepper coulis. Wine: Joseph Faiveley Bourgogne pinot noir
FOURTH COURSE: Rack of lamb with wild mushroom ragout. Wine: Parallèlle 45 Ici Cotes Du Rhone Tain L’Hermitage
DESSERT: Vanilla bean and raspberry crème brule. Wine: M. Chapoutier Banyuls.
