Soil Born Farms celebrates Sacramento’s signature crop Saturday with its annual Tomato Jubilee.

And warm weather this weekend should ripen enough heirlooms to supply the event, to be held at the American River Ranch, 2140 Chase Drive, Rancho Cordova.

Families are invited to taste different varieties from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. Special discounts will be offered at Soil Born’s farmstand.

Chef Michael Tuohy, formerly of The Grange, will demonstrate tomato recipes at 10 a.m. at the farm’s outdoor kitchen. In addition, learn how to preserve this flavorful crop. The Millington Strings will provide entertainment most of the morning.

At 11 a.m., guided tours of the American River Ranch — the area’s oldest continuously operating urban farm — will be offered.
