Lodi winery in Martha Stewart Living magazine

The folks at Peltier Station winery in Acampo, a stone’s throw from Lodi, are joyful over a gift-suggestion item in the December issue of Martha Stewart Living magazine. The text reads, “This accessible port-style dessert wine (USB, $25) comes from a third-generation family vineyard in central California, Peltier Station.”

“This is a huge opportunity for our winery,” said sales representative Tina Rogers. “It’s always exciting when a Lodi winery gets recognized, and we hope it brings recognition to the Lodi region.”

The tasty USB is a blend of zinfandel, teroldego and barbera grapes, and is a big seller among those in the tech industry. Why? Well, since the term “port” cannot appear on a wine unless it’s from Portugal (though some wineries were grandfatherd in when the ruling was made), the clever marketers at Peltier substituted the notion of a USB port cable connection for port wine. USB port, port wine — get it?
